Visitors to Stornoway on Saturday were treated to a festive sight as the town centre was bathed in red and white and they could have been forgiven for thinking Christmas came early as the annual Santa Run streaked through.

Smiles ran for miles as the ever-popular Santa dash raised laughs, Christmas spirit but most importantly it raised cash for charity on the final Saturday before Christmas.

More than 70 adult and young Santa’s donned the famous red and white suit for the charity race where this year all proceeds and monies raised are going to the Lewis branch of Cancer Research UK as runners blazed a trail of red and white around the two mile course from South Beach car park to the finishing line at the Smith Avenue running track.

At the end of the run the Santa’s were given mince pie’s and other treats, served by the girls for the Lewis Branch of Cancer Research Uk.

Lewis and Harris Sports Council would like to thank all participants and Northern Constabulary for their help on the day and also the Coop for providing the mince pie’s and treats.

The Lewis and Harris Sports Council would like to wish all its member clubs a Happy Christmas and a good New Year.
