The annual Stornoway Family Fun Run has a distinct ‘Commonwealth Games’ theme for 2014. Organisers are encouraging all fun runners to wear something Scottish, perhaps throwing on a bit of tartan into their running outfit. There is also a cash prize for best dressed ‘Clyde’ (the Commonwealth Games Mascot). We will no doubt be looking forward to seeing lots of spiky purple hair on Saturday morning at Porters Lodge!
The annual Fun Run takes place this Saturday, May 24, at 10:05am over the short distance of two-miles. Registration (and late entries) for the Fun Run takes place at the Bridge Centre on Friday, May 23, from 5.30 - 9pm and again on Saturday from 9am to 9:30am. The Race will start at Porter’s Lodge at 10.05am.
Medals will be provided for all finishers, with Prize Giving taking place at Porters Lodge after the race... including the best dressed ‘Clyde’ prize.
There will be prizes to be won in under 9s, 11s, 13s and 15 age categories - for boys and for girls. Also the Fun Run sees the annual FASTEST SCHOOL IN THE WEST competition – with the first four runners from one primary school past the finishing line counting for their school.
Will Stornoway Primary retain their strangle hold on the fastest school trophy this year? Come along and find out. Join in with the start to our local Commonwealth Games celebrations at the Stornoway Family Fun Run on Saturday. Arrive early to clap and cheer on the half marathon runners as they run past the start of the Fun Run before setting off on your two mile route back to Porters Lodge.
