As we look back on a glorious week of sporting adventure and inspiration in the Jersey sunshine - this pic shows three of our biggest heroes.

All three were part of the first WIIGA team to compete under the banner of the Western Isles in Shetland back on 2005.

And now a decade on all three are still winning medals at the most recent games.

In Jersey, Eilidh Mackenzie (left) landed silver in the women’s 1500m, Eve Carrington (centre) took bronze in both the shot-putt and 400m hurdles while Donnie Macleod took home a hat-trick of medals. He landed gold in the men’s 800m, bronze in the men’s 400m and a bronze in the men’s 4x400m relay.

Donnie and Eilidh now share top spot in the all-time medal table for the Western Isles with a mighty ten medals each but Eve has six with those gongs coming from five different sports.

Such is Eve’s versatility that she could double that in Gotland 2017.
