BBC ALBA’s coverage of the 2012/2013 Scottish Premier League season continues this weekend with ‘as-live’ action from Ross County v Aberdeen.
Coverage of the match from Victoria Park will start on Saturday at 5.30pm on BBC ALBA, which is available on Freeview channel 8, Virgin Media channel 188, Sky channel 168 and Freesat channel 110, and will be presented by Calum Macaulay with commentary from Derek MacKay.
Both sides have enjoyed good starts to the campaign, with newly promoted County sitting in ninth and Aberdeen, who are unbeaten in 10 league matches, sitting in third.
The Staggies’ last match was against Hearts at Tynecastle and it was a game that County were unlucky not to win after John Sutton’s 92nd minute goal for the home side led to a 2-2 share of the spoils.
Strikes from Niall McGinn and Jonny Hayes, meanwhile, saw Aberdeen record a comfortable 2-0 over bottom of the table Dundee at Pittodrie last weekend.
Ross County and Aberdeen have only met once previously, and that fixture was in August at Pittodrie in a match that ended 0-0.
As well as the action on the pitch, we talk to Neil Simpson, who lifted the European Cup Winners Cup with Aberdeen in 1983, about his role in nurturing the next generation of Aberdeen stars as head of the club’s youth academy.
We also spend a day with the Ross County U20 team as they travelled to Perth recently to play St Johnstone in the SPL’s new league structure and we talk to the U20 manager, coaches, and the U20 and 1st team players about talent, development and finding a way into first team football.
