MORE than 40 rugby revellers took to Bayhead playing fields in a bid to blow away the festive cobwebs and burn off some of the turkey by taking part in Stornoway Rugby Club’s annual Boxing Day match.
One game insider revealed the game could even go down in history as the greatest game of rugby ever played, such was the phenomenal pace, skill and guile aplenty on display and twinned with a level of physicality that the All Blacks themselves would have been fearful of.
The game even had some controversial refereeing decisions and mulled wine on the touchline ensuring it felt like the best game ever for those involved, if not t least that’s what it felt like to those taking part. To those that turned up to watch however, it may not have held quite the same appeal.
