LEWIS man Cal Robertson is preparing for a leg-sapping, and saddle numbing 100- mile cycle to raise cash for Children in Need.
He has been training for the gruelling endurance cycle, which he will do on an exercise bike at Lewis Sports Centre, by taking on 40-mile sessions in the gym.
But he is aiming to complete more than double that distance next Friday (November 16th) to raise funds for Children in Need.
He said: “I’m a keen cyclist anyway so that is why I thought of it but it isn’t going to be easy and the saddle sore will be the worst bit.”
On the day Cal will be positioned on his bike in the front foyer of the Sports Centre as he bids to complete the epic cycle in just five hours - meaning he will have to average 20 mph for the entire duration.
But it is for a good cause and one which Cal has already managed to raise £500 for.
“I’ve always wanted to do something for Children in Need and I had this idea and just went for it,” he explained.
“I have a Just Giving site which people can donate to and I will also have a bucket by the bike for donations on the day.”
