After some very close matches in the early rounds of the John The Chemist Indoor Singles the line up for the semi finals was Margert Macleod Versus John O’Connor; and Willie A Morrison versus Duncan Maclean.

In the first semi John took the first end with a single shot and Margert took the second with a single shot unfourtunatly for Margert no matter what she did John took the shot, and he won all the remaining ends.

In the other semi Duncan took the first two ends with a single shot in each, and Willie took the third with two shots, Duncan won the next five ends and they went into the eighth end with Duncan leading nine shots to two and Willie requiring to be pull something major out of the bag in the final two ends.

In the ninth end Duncan was lying shot and Wilie needed to pick the jack and take it through to his own back bowls, but although he manged to pick the jack he was slightly light on weight and only picked up two shots, so Duncan won by nine shots to four.

So the final was to be played between John O’Connor and Duncan Maclean; both players had won this competition in the past, but Duncan was the losing finalist last year.

With the carpet having been moved to a different postion in the hall so as not to give either player an advantage, both players sturggled to find the line in the first couple of ends.

Duncan took the first end with a single, John scored a single in the second, Duncan scored a single in the third and John took a single in the fourth, with Duncan taking another single in the fifth.

John then broke the run of single shots scoring two shots in the sixth and another single in the seventh.

Duncan took the eighth and nineth ends with a single shot in each to level the score at five each going in to the final end.

However it was John who scored the winning shot in the final end to win six shots to five.
