Darts league restarts following winter break

Wednesday 15th January saw the start of the Second half of the league after the winter break. There was one postponed game as Ness could not field a team to play against the All Stars. The other games were as follows:

Legion 3 v Sea Angling A 5.

The opening game had the Legion’s Dan Bomber (135) lose 3 – 0 to the A Team’s Rory Ferguson (140, 100 x 2). Next up for the Legion was Beastie MacLeod (100 x 3) against Don MacLeod (123, 100 x 3) with Don coming out victorious winning 3 – 1. Calum Ruddy (140 x 2, 135, 100) pulled a game back for the Legion against Alex Keiller winning 3 – 0. The third leg is worthy of mention as Calum managed a 15 dart leg hitting his two 140s and a 78 checkout. This was to be the only win for the Legion in the singles games. Willie Reid (140 x 2, 116, 100) was the next A Team player to the oche against Mark MacDonald (100 x 2). Willie came out winner with a score of 3 – 1. The last singles game had The Legion’s Terry “Lewis” Pearce (137) take on the A Team’s Murdo Alex MacLeod (140, 100 x 3) with Murdo Alex winning 3 – 0. With the score at 4 – 1 going into the triples and doubles, the Legion could at least try for a draw. First the oche in the triples for the Legion was Mark. Then the A Teams Murdo Alex (100 x 2). Calum Ruddy (100 x 2) was next up, then Don followed by one of the Legion’s substitute players Williky then Willie Reid (130, 100). It was Williky who won the game for the Legion making it 4 – 2 with the two doubles games left to play. Could the Legion get the draw? The first doubles game went to the A Team as Mark (100) and Williky took on Murdo Alex and Willie Reid (121, 100). It was Willie’s 112 finish that won the game for the A Team as he hit 20, T20 D16, It wasn’t over yet though as Calum and Beastie beat Alex K. and an increasingly rare appearance from one of the A Team’s substitutes, Captain Alex “Painter” Murray (100). Final score 3 – 5 to the A Team.

Sea Angling B 7 v Jack Sparrows 1,

In what turned out to be the Sparrow’s only win. Compo MacLeod (100 x 2) beat the B Team’s Davie 3 – 0. Obviously the rest of the games went to the home team. If there’s such a thing in the Dangler’s. JP (100) was next up for the B Team. Beam, beating Gaffer MacLean 3 – 1. We then had Ted (100 x 3) against Mairianne MacIvor. Ted was the victor winning 3 – 1. We then had Babz (104, 100) against Amanda Campbell with Babz winning 3 – 0. Last on the oche for the singles was Gordon Mopp (121, 100 x 3) versus the Sparrow’s Conner (100) with Gordy winning 3 – 2. Into the triples and we had Gordy (100), Babz and Davie beat Compo, Gaffer and Mairianne. Both doubles games also went to the B Team with Ted (120) and JP beating Compo (130, 100) and Mairianne in the first game, and Babz (124) and Davie beating Gaffer and Amanda in the second. So, 7 – 1 to the B Team!

Ranger’s Supporters Club 6 v Golf Club 2.

It was a dreadful opening game for the Golf Club, as your correspondent was faced with Bananas O’Donnell. Banana’s 105 and 80 checkouts in legs 1 and 2 didn’t bode well for my chances. Banana’s 105 checkout went by way of hitting T19, 8, D20 and his 80 finish was achieved hitting 20, 20 and D20. Well played Bananas! Things didn’t get any better for the Golf Club as Stephen O’Donnell (140, 125, 100 x 6) beat Cal (140, 120, 105, 100) 3 – 2. Sander (108, 100 x 5) pulled one back for the Golf Club beating Ewen MacLean. The 108 score was a finish, hitting T20, 8, D20. Nini MacLeod (118, 117) was next up for the RSC, beating James MacAskill (100 x 3). The final singles game saw Ivor MacLeod beat Phil Frieslier 3 – 0. S0, 4 – 1 to the RSC made it a bit difficult for the Golf Club going into the subsequent games. The triples had Stephen, Ivor and Nini beat the Golf Club’s Cal, Jim and Allan. It was 50 – 50 in the two doubles games as the Golf Club’s James and Sander beat Ivor and Ian. The second doubles game went to the RSC as Stephen (140, 120) and Nini beat Jim and Phil (140).
