A reasonably quiet night with only two games being played, the other two will now have to be arranged for a later date that is agreeable to both clubs playing in each fixture.
The results of the games played were as follows:
Sea Angling A 8 v Golf Club 0. A poor night for the Golf Club as they were overwhelmed by the excellent Sea Angling A Team, It went as follows: Derrick “Sam” MacAskill (100 x 2) beat Cal MacLeod 3 – 0, with Sam getting a good 66 finish in the deciding 3rd leg hitting T18 D6. Murdo Alex MacLeod then took on John N. Murray and in what was a terrible game for John, when he struggled at times to hit double figure scores.
Murdo Alex (140 x 2, 100 x 2) won 3 – 0. Alex Keiller (140, 100 x 5) continued for the A Team, beating Jason Rook (121, 107,100) 3 – 0 also. Alex managed a 76 finish in the 2nd leg.
The 4th round went no better for the Golf Club as Phil Frieslier (100) also went down 3 – 0 to Willie Reid (100 x 3). John “Suv” Sommerville (140, 111) was the most successful Golf club player managing to win one leg in a 3 – 1 game against Rory Ferguson (140, 100 x 4) with Rory taking the 1st leg with the second 76 finish for the A team of the evening. Cal, Jason and Suv took on, and lost to, Rory (125), Willie and Alex K. (140) in the triples game.
Things continued badly for the Golf Club in the doubles games as Phil and Alan MacKinnon lost to Rory (100) and Alex “Painter” Murray (in what was a rare playing appearance lately for the A Team’s captain!) helped greatly by Rory’s 90, T18 D18, finish. The second doubles game went to Willie (171, 134) and Alex K. against Cal and Suv.
Legion v Jack Sparrows. Match postponed.
Rangers Club v Ness. Match postponed.
Sea Angling B 3 v All Stars 5. Ted Bainbridge (100 x 4) opened for the B Team, beating the All Stars’ Dave 3 – 1, with each leg finished with a D16. JP Cawley (101, 100) went on for the B Team to beat Willie “Peggs” Davidson (100) 3 – 0 winning the deciding 3rd leg with a bull finish.
The B Team didn’t have it all their own way as Alex “Momby” Morrison (100 x 3) pulled one back for the All Stars beating Dave Heckles (100) 3 – 0. Murdo MacLeod then took on Babz MacLeod in what was the closest game so far. Murdo (140, 100 x 5) beat Babz ((100 x 2) 3 – 2 with the first leg going to Murdo with a fantastic 126 finish hitting T19, 19, Bull. Gordon “The Power” Mopp had no opponent so he was awarded a 3 – 0 victory. That left it 3 – 2 to the B Team going into the triples and doubles with it all to play for, for both teams.
The triples game went to the All Stars, with Momby (100), Murdo (100) and Peggs beating Babz (100 x 2), Ted (120) and JP. Both doubles games also went to the All Stars. The first one had Momby (100) and Dave B. beat Ted (100) and Babz. The second game had Murdo (127) and Peggs beat Dave H. and Gordie.
