Golden Girls win Bermuda gong for Western Isles

Kerry MacPhee and Christina Mackenzie beat the blistering Bermuda heat and athletes from all over the globe this weekend to storm their way to a stunning gold medal at this year’s Internal Island Games.

The girls broke the tape in the women’s triathlon team competition in 4:34:17 – almost ten minutes quicker than host team Bermuda who were second and Guernsey a minute further back in third.

Kerry and Christina overcame huge odds and a gruelling race, covering an Olympic-distance triathlon including cycling, running and swimming, to pick up our first gold of the games.

See this week’s Stornoway Gazette for more pics, quotes and reaction from Bermuda.
