A FEARLESS Lewis woman’s mission to the Arctic to undertake the gruelling, and breathtaking, Rangers Arctic Challenge has been aided by the sharpshooters of Harris Gun Club.

Nicola Lockerbie, 35, was presented with a cheque for £223 collected by Harris Gun Club following a fund raising competition on Saturday.

The cash raised goes into the pot to allow Nicola to enter the epic challenge which is scheduled to start next February.

The Rangers Arctic Challenge, a 200km sled through the frozen plains of wintry Norway, helps raise money for the Rangers Charity Foundation which aids a host of national and international charities.

To help Nicola’s cause the Harris Gun Club hosted the Acrtic Challenge 2012 100 DTL Competition with a host of eagle-eyed shooters taking part.

All three top places were won by guest shooters from Benbecula Clay Pigeon Club with Donald Maclennan taking top spot with a score of 96/281. Second and third were his club mates Donald Walker and Michael Cole.

Nicola’s trip of a lifetime is fast approaching and she admits she can’t wait to fly north early next year.

Harris Gun Club would like to invite any experienced shooters to their Boxing Day and New Year competitions. All details can be found at www.harrisgunclub.co.uk
