Nacho Novo might be wearing a Greenock Morton crest on his chest these days, but it is Glasgow Rangers which will be forever embedded in his heart.

The Spaniard became a cult legend in Govan for his goalscoring exploits with his beloved Gers, where he netted more than 70 times over six-seasons – including six in the white-hot atmosphere of the Old Firm derby.

His trademark grin is unmistakable when Novo leans forward in his seat at the Lewis and Harris Rangers Supporters Club as he excitedly regales tales of his Ibrox hey-day.

However, his smile slips when the subject of a rumoured second spell with the club is raised, as he admits his pain and disappointment at what he feels were broken promises by current boss Ally McCoist.

Novo was talking exclusively to the Stornoway Gazette in what has been acknowledged as the world’s biggest Rangers Supporters Club in another huge coup for the Stornoway-based supporters’ club.
