Fourteen members of Stornoway Rugby Club recently attended Scottish Rugby’s UKCC Level 1 Course in Stornoway.

The mixture of current and retired players along with three talented players from the junior section have completed the first two days of the course and will complete the final assessment in the coming weeks.

This is the highest level of rugby course to be held on the Island and the accessibility of holding the course locally is reflected in the high numbers attending. The course was led by Alex Edmonstone (SRU Coach Development Officer), assisted by Greg Cann (SRU) and GG Campbell (SYRFC).

Alex Edmonstone commented: “Scottish Rugby is committed to improving the standard of coaches across Scotland and I’m delighted we’ve been able to provide this opportunity for coaches in Stornoway.”

He added “We were impressed with the committment and enthusiasm shown by all those attending the course and I’m sure rugby on the island will benefit from this development.”
