The Leanne Fund 5k proved popular with young and old, runners and walkers alike as a great turnout took to the start line in Garrabost, Point, on Saturday, June 1st, despite a spell of dreich weather.
The event had received messages of support from celebrities like singer Ms Dynamite, and STV’s weather man Sean Batty even sent the Fund its own personal weather forecast for the day.
New names are now being added to the Leanne Fund 5k trophies as the winners crossed the finish line in excellent time.
The first male (adult) title went to Michael MacMillan for his time of 20 minutes 26 seconds (trophy sponsors Ivor Finlayson Builder); and completing the course in 23 minutes three seconds was first female (adult) across the finish line, Marina Murray (trophy sponsors Stornoway Painters).
In the Under 16 category, the first male trophy was scooped by Paul Anderson with a time of 24 minutes 14 seconds (trophy sponsor the Thai Cafe); and Jasmin Ewen ran the 5k in 26 minutes and one second to take the first under 16 female trophy (the Leanne Mitchell Memorial Trophy).
The Leanne Fund would like to thank everyone who took part in the 2013 5k, and all who helped out on the day and behind the scenes. Thanks also to the 5k event main sponsors RMk Insurance Services and Hebridean Water.
