Learning about the fun of sport

Western Isles Council’s Sport Development and Active Schools team organised Primary 2 and 3 Fun Fours Football Festival for Primary School children in Lewis and Harris recently.

These festivals aim to enhance children’s ability to run, throw, jump and kick the ball and to develop balance and co-ordination.

The Fun Fours allows young people the opportunity to enjoy themselves and develop their skills through games in a structure that does not conclude with conventional ‘winners and losers’ at the end of the event.

The Smith Avenue All Weather Pitch was taken over by very excited and enthusiastic Primary 2s and 3s on Tuesday, May 13th with a total of 24 teams.

Thank you to the following Lewis schools for taking part in the festival – Laxdale, Back, Tong, Breascleit and Lionel.
