Entries are coming in from all over the world for the third Linda Norgrove Foundation 10k on Saturday, October 5th.
Although the event takes place around the beautiful Valtos Peninsula in Uig, participants can enter and take part wherever they are in the world.
Tony and Kirsty Wade of the event organising committee explain: “We have a ‘Long Distance Entry’ option available via the Linda Norgrove Foundation website. The idea is that wherever you are in the world, we will mail a t-shirt and people can walk or run 10k on the day.
“We are hoping that people will have a photograph of themselves taken, they will email them to us and we will post them on the Foundation Facebook page. This will be a reflection of the worldwide impact that Linda made during her life.”
The Linda Norgrove Foundation was established by aid-worker Linda’s parents John and Lorna to continue her commitment to work for women and children affected by the war in Afghanistan.
“We know that the island community is spread to all corners of the world,” continued Tony. “So we hope that people will encourage as many people as possible to take part – this week we have had entries from all over the UK as well as from across the world!”
Entry forms for the Linda Norgrove Foundation 10k are available at Sportsworld and Lewis Sports Centre, entry fee £10. T-shirts are also available at the Sports Centre at a cost of £15. All the proceeds of the event will benefit the continuing work of the Foundation.
Long Distance Entries, and local entries also, can be made at www.lindanorgrovefoundation.org by following the link from the Home page.
