This week saw interest being registered in the the Linda Norgrove Foundation 10km from as far afield as Antarctica, the event will be held on the 8th of October this year.
One of the organisers Tony Wade remarked: “It is fantastic that news of the event has reached as far as the Antarctic!
“The Long Distance Entry was designed to demonstrate the world wide impact of Linda’s life and work, so we’re really excited that word of the 10k has spread that far already!”
One of the aims of the event is that people can participate wherever they are on that date, not just get involved in the main event around the Valtos peninsula in Uig.
Tony expanded: “We have heard this week that a group of Linda’s colleagues from DAI, the organisation she was working for in Afghanistan will also be taking part from a number of locations around the world.
“It would be brilliant if we could all use our e-mail address books to encourage as many people as possible wherever they are to run or walk 10K (6.2 miles) on Saturday 8th October. We will collate all the photographs of people who take part and post them on the Linda Norgrove Foundation Facebook page to celebrate the worldwide impact of Linda’s life.”
