Principal sponsors of the Isle Of Harris Golf Club Life Members and Open tournaments proudly display the magnificent trophies to be contested.

Commented Hugh Maclean: “The tournament gets under way on Thursday. With a fun Texas Scramble which is fully subscribed already with an entry of over 40.”

The Life Members Tournament gets under way on Friday morning and has attracted an entry from America, Ireland, England and from all over Scotland. Francis and Michael Clark (Royal Aberdeen), strong supporters of the Club, return to defend their titles and will be tough to beat in the scratch. Also returning to defend his H’ cap title is Willie Mackay (Royal Dornoch).

The Ladies will be missing last years scratch winner Suzanne Graham but returning are Pam Jack (Bellingham) Morag Wallace (Culbokie) and Jane Nicholson (Sty GC) all strong contenders.

The lure of the ‘Jackets’ has again attracted a strong entry. Unable to defend his title due to a shoulder injury, Andy Macdonald sits this one out. So a strong contender will be past Jacket winner David Black (SY Golf Club.) He can expect a stiff challenge fro the Clark Brothers (Royal Aberdeen) and the fast improving local players Taz Morrison and Billy Fraser. Cal Robertson (SY) could also pose a threat.

In the H’ cap section Billy Fraser hopes to add another Jacket, but this is a tough competition with a strong entry from Benbecula, Skye, and Stornoway on the way.

The Ladies Open will be missing last years winner Suzanne Graham (North Berwick) but Cathie Clark (Cruden Bay) Maureen Robertson( Dalmahoy) and Jayne Nicholson (SY) all returning and will be strong contenders in the scratch and h’cap competitions.

The Archie Macleod Memorial Trophy for local Players will see all of last years winners in the field again.
