Styling the highly prestigious Isle of Harris Open Tweed Jacket and equalling the course record is Stornoway Golf Club’s Andy Macdonald winning with a scratch score of 64 . Macdonald edged former ‘Jacket’ winner David Black (Sty) who carded a scratch 70 into second spot.
Forty players contested in what was an excellent entry. The question was, could anyone compete with the Clark brothers Frances and Michael playing out of Royal Aberdeen? The answer was no, with Frances carding a fine 68, course par, and Michael in second with a scratch 73!
The Ladies scratch was won by Susanne Graham (North Berwick) score of 81.
The Men’s H’cap section was won by Willie (Hook) Mackay. Playing out of Royal Dornoch he scored a fine nett 62. The Ladies H’cap section was won by Morag Wallace (Inverness) with a nett 70.Over 110 players competed for the Jackets Open.
Saturday’s entrants had to cope with fierce weather. But there was no taking away from the fine score of first time ‘jacket winner’ Andy Macdonald.
The Mens H’cap was a tense affair with Friday clubhouse leader Billy Fraser sitting on a fine nett 62.
The Ladies ‘Jacket’ was won by Susanne Graham with a scratch 83.
The H’cap ladies was won by Maureen Robertson with a nett 75. The Archie Macleod Memorial Trophy was won by Billy Fraser a nett 62 (72 .10. 62)
