Men’s badminton final today

The final of Western Isles Badminton Open will take place today (Saturday, February 7) at the Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais in Stornoway.

Steven Munro and Kedar Paul will cross badminton raquets in the final of the annual event.

Both men reached the final last week following an afternoon of badminton which comprised of four different events – CnES Sport and Health Section would like to thank the following local sponsors: Stornoway Round Table (Men’s Singles); Influence (Ladies Doubles); Alasdair Macrae (Men’s Doubles); and Charlie Nicolson (Mixed Doubles).

The competition had a total of 16 entries for the mens singles, 10 pairs in the Men’s doubles, two pairs in Ladies doubles and five pairs in the Mixed doubles.

All the doubles competitions took the format of group sections with the group winners progressing to the finals. With the Men’s singles being a straight knockout competition.

The winners were as follows:

Men’s singles - finalists: Steven Munro and Kedar Paul (Final to be played on Saturday 7th February).

Ladies Doubles - Winners, Donna Maclennan and Jane MacIntosh; runners up, Donna Bray and Volna Mackay.

Men’s Doubles - Winners, Keith Bray and Steven Munro; runners up, Toby Reynolds and Iain MacKenzie.

Mixed Doubles - Winners, Richard Tarves and Donna Maclennan; runners up, Steven Munro and Donna Bray.
