Camanachd Leòdhais crowned a fine year of progress and achievement with the bestowing of several awards upon the club in the last week.

Paul Duke was named Lewis and Harris Sportsworld Sportsperson of the Year for his contributions to the club, Iain “Diablo” Sinclair was named Marine Harvest North Division Three Coach of the Year and the club as a whole was awarded the Marine Harvest Fair Play Award for the third year in four - a sensational return

“Absolutely gobsmacked at winning,” grinned Dukey upon hearing the news.

“Humbled doesn’t come close and amazing to have shinty recognised among all the other great sports. It’s brilliant news.”

Team manager Iain Sinclair added: “I’m also gobsmacked but it is a great testimony to everyone involved in Camanachd Leòdhais over the years.”

See this week’s Stornoway Gazette for a full review of the season for the shinty stars as we look back over what was the best season so far for Leodhias.
