On Saturday, April 22nd, 22 members of Stornoway Sea Angling Club packed up their rods and gear for the trip to South Harris to compete for the Obbe Trophy.

Despite a cold morning the afternoons fishing was enjoyed in less breezy conditions and with sunshine breaking through the cloud
overhead.

This led to a great number of brown trout being hooked and landed.

The overall winner of the competition was Donnie Whiteford with a total weight of 13 pounds and 8 ounces for 18 trout.

Runner up was Robbie Bell with a total of 12 pounds and 10 ounces for 16 trout.

A healthy number of trout around the two pound weight were caught including one by one of our youngest anglers, Johnny Black.

In total an excellent number of 116 trout were caught for an overall weight of 82 pounds. As well as the Obbe Trophy, Donnie was presented with a bottle of whisky which was kindly donated by the Rodel Hotel for the competition winner.
