New route for the Stornoway Half Marathon

The Stornoway Running and Athletics Club will be holding the annual half marathon on Saturday 23rd May, with a new more scenic course.

The race will start near the Sports Centre and finish on Cromwell Street quay adjacent to the new marina.

The route goes through the town but will predominatly steer runners around the pictureesque settings of the Lews Castle Grounds, and will take participants along some of the new dual use paths.

Runners will get great views of Stornoway as they circumnavigate their way round Gallows hill, before descending along the picturesque River Creed and back to town via the shore road and Bayhead.

A 10k and fun run are also being held and these will start and finish on Cromwell Street Quay.

The Stornoway Half Marathon and 10K is due to take place on Saturday, May 23, with runners setting off for the Half Marathon at 10am.
