Harris Gun Club may have been awarded ‘Sports Club of the Year 2013’ by the Lewis and Harris Sports Council and then ‘Scotland’s Favourite Gun Club’, by the readers of Clay Shooting Magazine, but HGC members aren’t resting on their laurels just yet.

Kevin ‘Lava’ Macleod, in his first year of clay target shooting, won the Boxing Day Universal Trench competition for the fabulous Eagle Trophy. Second place went to Norman Martin and third to Roddy MacAulay.

February 1st also saw a visit to the Aline shooting ground from the Western Isles District Scouts and Explorers.

Many of the 20 Scouts were trying their hand a clay target shooting for the first time.

The weather was in everyones favour and club members turned out in force, giving up their Saturday by sharing their knowledge with the next generation of potential TopGuns.
