Local police made their mark on the recent British Police Track and Field championships 2012 which were hosted for the first time by Northern Constabulary.
The championships took place at Queens Park, Inverness and brought officers from across Great Britain & Northern Ireland to the Highland capital.
Three officers based at Stornoway Police Station, each previous medal winners were selected to compete for Northern Constabulary PC Cameron Ross, PC Maureen Mackinnon and PC Scott Macdonald.
First event of the day, the 400m hurdles final saw 2011 winner PC Cameron Ross despite a recovering calf injury retain his title and earn Northern Constabulary their first medal of the championships. Further medals for Northern quickly followed, including PC Maureen Mackinnon hopping, skipping & jumping her way to gold in the females triple jump, MacKinnon also took silver in the females Long Jump . In the men’s medley relay success was also had for Northern with: Kyle Dallas (Thurso), Keith Whitelaw (Inverness), Scott Macdonald (Stornoway), Cameron Ross (Stornoway).
