Visitors to Stornoway this weekend will see the town bathed in red and white and they may even think Christmas has come early as the annual Santa Run streaks through the town centre.

The ever-popular Santa dash will raise smiles amongst competitors and those watching on but most importantly it will raise cash for charity on the final Saturday before Christmas.

This year all proceeds and monies raised are going to the Lewis branch of Cancer Research UK as runners blaze a trail of red and white around the two mile course from South Beach car park to the finishing line at Smith Avenue.

Santa suits are available from Lewis Sports Centre for runners with prices to take part as follows: £4 Over 18 (including suit) / £2 if you have your own suit;  £3 Secondary Pupils (including suit) / £1 if you have your own suit; £3 Primary Pupils (including suit) / £1 if you have your own suit!; £1 Primary Pupils (Santa’s little helpers must be dressed in Christmas Clobber).

The Santa Run takes place this Saturday, December 20, at 12 noon.
