Scorching day for Stornoway runners

The sun was shining on Stornoway on Saturday as more than 100 runners took on the Half Marathon.

The event was won by North Uist man Iain MacCorquodale (NUAAC) with a time of 1 hour 18 minutes. Second was Paul Carrol of Clydesdale Harriers and third was Andrew Joyce (SRAC).

The 10k was won by Duncan McKellar of SRAC in 38 minutes and 12 seconds.

Over 200 took part in the Fun Run with Connor Maclean from the Nicolson Institute completing the two mile course in ten minutes and 48 seconds.

The title for Fastest School in the West went to Stornoway Primary.

The Stornoway Gazette team took part in the 10k to raise funds for the Western Isles branch of the Samaritans.
