KENNY Maciver has admitted his disappointment at the lukewarm response to the application by the Lewis and Harris Select to enter competitive football on the mainland for the first time.

The Lewis and Harris Football Association Chairman says he has been surprised at the response to the plans to enter a representative side in the North Caledonia Cup in August as he considers it the next, and the only, logical next step for progression.

“It was very disappointing to see the lukewarmfeeling towards the competition

at the recent AGM,” he explained.

“It is a terrific opportunity for our players to take the next step forward and I expected more enthusiasm.

“We have won all we can at local levels and the only option now is to look to the mainland for exciting new ventures which we believe we have found in the North Caledonia Cup.”
