Southern Isles Emergency Services Match

A unique football match between Southern Isles Emergency Select vs Police (Lewis/ Harris) has been arranged for April 13 at Liniclate Pitch, Benbecula.

The match sponsored by Macaulay Askernish will feature players from all Emergency Services in Uist and Barra to face the visiting Police side. It is

anticipated that several hundred spectators will be in attendance from across the Western Isles, all funds raised will go to RNLI Barra Lifeboats.

Admission at the match is free, but donations are invited.

PC Cameron Ross (Police), Event Organiser said: “This is a special match that has been arranged and I hope the public will attend to show their support for all players from the various Emergency Services. The match promises to be a competitive match, both sides will want to win this cup and especially when bragging rights are at stake.”

Kenneth Macdonald (Scottish Ambulance Service), Event Organiser, continued: “In addition to the football match, various emergency service vehicles will be on display and during half time the cup will arrive in style via Coastguard Helicopter. It promises to be a great day out for people of all

ages.”

On the night DJ Carl Easton will perform a set at the match which will also entertain the spectators with half entertainment while hot food and drink will be available.

Opportunities for companies to sponsor man of the match and ball sponsor still exist. If interested police contact PC Ross at Stornoway Police Station on 01851 702222.

To celebrate the 1st Southern Isles Emergency Services Match a charity buffet and dance will take place at night within the Dark Island hotel.

Rock and alternative band Pandejo will perform live at the event and DJ Carl Easton will also be spinning at the decks.

Tickets are priced as follows: £15 (Buffet/ Dance) 6.30pm – 1am, £5 (Dance only) 9pm – 1am.

This event is ticket only. All funds go to Barra Lifeboats and tickets are available from the following locations:
