Finishing touches are being made to plans for the second annual Linda Norgrove Foundation 10k, with interest in the long distance (run where you are entry) registered from all over the world, including a team in Afghanistan, a group in Australia and even a council employee taking part on a cruise ship! it is hoped that a final push this week will help to boost participant numbers fort the main event in Uig on the Isle of Lewis.
The Linda Norgrove Foundation would like to thank Valtos residents in advance for their patience and alert road users to the fact that for a short time on Saturday 6th October there will be walkers and runners on the Valtos Peninsula main road, it is recommended that a one way system is adopted similar to that used on Uig Gala Day.
The event will start at 12pm at Reef Machair by the campsite; runners and walkers of all abilities are encouraged to come and join in on the day to demonstrate their support for women and children in Afghanistan and get involved with something a bit different on a Autumnal Saturday afternoon.
Children are also welcome to take part as long as they are accompanied by an adult and the route is buggy friendly - there will be refreshments available on the route and also afterwards at the old fire station at Miavaig. T-shirts priced at £10 will be available at the start of the event.
If you haven’t entered yet, don’t worry, there is still time - entry forms can be picked up in Stornoway from : Sports World, The Sports Centre or The Wardrobe on Church Street or you can enter online by visiting: the website
