Stornoway Green and Tolsta win Sportshall Athletic event

A whopping 23 teams took part in the recent Lewis and Harris Sports Council Sports Festival Primary Sportshall Athletic event at Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais A whopping 23 teams took part in the recent Lewis and Harris Sports Council Sports Festival Primary Sportshall Athletic event at Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais.

Teams from all over Lewis did battle in various stations stations and disciplines and finished off the night with a team relay. The stations were a mixture of running, jumping and throwing skills based on sportshall athletics format.

The talented pack of youngsters included: Westside Bullets, Westside Gunners, Talented Tong, Tong Wafers, Back A & B, Tolsta, Running Club Riots, Ness, Spors Nis, Laxdale Legends, Aces, Bolts, Bridge, Strips, Stars, Stornoway Blue, Orange, Red, White, Yellow, Purple and Green.

But in the end the eventual winners were Stornoway Green and Tolsta who ended the day with a huge haul of 126 points.

Everyone involved with the event would like to offer their gratitude to the Sports Centre Staff, Gordon Macdonald, Keith Bray, Joan Budge, Adrienne Stewart, Kirsty Baird, Freya Macleod, Finlay MacSween, Lewis Macleod, Holly Maclean, Kyle Munro, Mairi Graham, Anne Maclean, Christy Graham, Jodi Mackay, Seamus MacTaggart, Claire Scott, Kenneth MacSween, David Macleod, Jenna Stewart, Iain Macdonald, Andrew Duncan, Gavin Earons, Colin Tucker, Mairi MacSween, all parents and school staff that helped and supported on the night and finally the Primary athletes & their team managers for making the event possible.
