THIS year’s Lewis and Harris title race proved to be a thrilling contest which went right to the wire.
But while Stornoway Athletic may have snatched the trophy in the final matches when 2011 champs Back faltered at the finish – it is not quite the end of the honours.
To celebrate another campaign of thrills and spills, Eric Mackinnon and the Stornoway Gazette is bringing you the Lewis and Harris Team of the Season – as voted for by the club bosses themselves.
Each manager was asked to select a team of the season but each were barred from selecting their players.
The results make interesting reading with four teams represented in the final 11. The spine of the elite side comes from Carloway (with four) and Stornoway Athletic (three) perhaps not surprisingly with Carloway winning the league’s final two trophies and Aths taking the title.
Lochs and Back – who won the island’s first two trophies – were also represented.
