RUNNERS in this year’s Stornoway Half Marathon, 10K and Family Fun Runs won’t go thirsty, thanks to a donation of 900 bottles of water from The Co-operative Food.

Steven Cooper, Manager of The Co-operative Food store at Macaulay Road, said: “The Co-operative Food has an important role in the heart of the community, and we are keen to help whenever we can.

“We are pleased to do our bit to supply runners with water bottles, and snacks, to help keep them refreshed on the big day, and by doing so help make this year’s half marathon a success.”

Event organisers from Stornoway Running and Athletics Club collected the bottles, of The Co-operative’s own-brand Fairbourne Springs water, when they visited The Co-operative Food store in Macaulay Road, Stornoway, recently.

The Co-operative is sponsoring the event, and as well as the water, for water stations along the route, is donating goody bags containing fruit juice, snacks and sweets for participants.

This year’s Stornoway Half Marathon, 10K and Family Fun Runs are on Saturday, 25th May. For more information visit www.srac.org.uk
