Lewis Camanachd has joined the shinty league third division.
Their first game is due to take place on March 5 at Beauly.
Some clubs raised concerns about crossing the Minch to play the island side but the Camanachd Association accepted a plea that refusing the Lewis bid would discredit any claim that shinty is a national game.
The club appeal argued that rejection would, in effect, act as a ban in perpetuity on Western Isles clubs joining the league, as the travel situation is not likely to change.
And that home league games were the only way to ensure the long term survival of the game in Lewis and Harris.
The club has secured land at Barvas and work is under way on upgrading it for play. Lewis have promised the association that it will be ready for play by May 14 when their historic first home league game will be against Lochbroom.
