Isle of Lewis’ Back School is amongst the first beneficiaries of the TSB Football Travel Fund having being awarded a grant of £165.60 towards their football travel costs this season.
Back qualified for the fund having travelled to play in the recent TSB Soccer Sevens event in Glasgow.
The fund caters for secondary and primary school teams, as well as Scottish Schools’ FA (SSFA) regional associations, competing in TSB supported competitions during the 2013/14 season that face exceptional travel costs to fulfil fixtures.
TSB, proud partner of the SSFA, has committed to pay a percentage of each funding application received, with each school entitled to make two claims. It’s thought the total support provided by TSB to schools will exceed £11,500.
Limin Yao, Bank Manager at Stornoway, commented: “We are delighted to support Back School with a Travel Fund grant. The contribution will hopefully help to ease the financial challenge facing many schools competing in various Scottish schools’ football competitions. This is another example of TSB’s commitment to helping the local communities in which it operates to prosper.”
Donald MacLeod, Headteacher at Back School said: “We are delighted to receive a grant of £165.60 from TSB to assist with our travel costs around the recent National Sevens Final. It’s a fantastic initiative and one that will be of great benefit to schools across the country.”
