The Poetry Games is an exciting poetry writing competition for young writers aged 11-18 years.

Young writers know how passionate teenagers can be, and that they don’t always have a platform to express themselves and voice their opinions on subjects that matter to them.

The Poetry Games has been designed to provide teens with a way to express their thoughts and opinions in verse about things they really care about, from bullying and homelessness to the environment and being a youth in today’s society.

Each poem submitted to The Poetry Games will be read by our editorial team and considered for a regional anthology.

Published poets will then be in with the chance of being chosen as one of 12 finalists from across the UK, representing their region in an online public vote, where the winner will be crowned the 2014 champion and win an iPad!

To support teachers Young Writers provides free teacher resources in line with the National Curriculum, such as lesson plans and interactive PowerPoint presentations.

During the 2012/13 academic year, secondary school-aged pupils submitted their poems for The Poetry Games 2013 regional collections.

The Editorial team then chose the best poet from each region as a finalist. The finalists were invited to bring their poems to life by creating a short film or slideshow.

The entries are now open to a public vote and the poet with the most votes wins an iPad and will be crowned the 2013 Poetry Games Champion. The 11 runners-up will each be awarded with a Kindle Paperwhite.
