SWAPPING the comfort of a television studio for the ‘hot seat’ as a Tour Guide, former River City actor Tony Kearney introduces a bus full of tourists to the delights of the Outer Hebrides.
Tony is put in charge of a coach load of tourists, guiding the coach party throughout Lewis and Harris as part of television series ‘Turas Tony’ which sees the actor try out a new challenging profession every week.
In tonight’s episode (Monday, December 3rd), Tony finds himself in the hot seat at the front of the bus imparting his wisdom, wisecracks and wit in an attempt to show off all the local sites of interest, including the iconic Calanish Stones, the incredible Bronze Age Carloway Broch and the poignant Iolaire monument.
Tony explained: “I have always wanted to be a Coach Trip Tour Guide. Put a microphone in front of me any time and I just can’t shut up! Although I realised just how hard it is to try and remember everything and keep people entertained at the same time.
“It was a brilliant experience. The coach trippers were lovely but for me it was non-stop and my head was hurting by the end!
“I just hope I got all my facts right and didn’t put the off wanting to come back to The Hebrides!” he added.
‘Turas Tonny: Coach Trip Tour Guide’ screens tonight, Monday December 3rd, at 10pm on BBC ALBA.
