Big Dinner charity donation

The Rotary Club of Stornoway and The Nicolson Institute Interact Club, are delighted to be presenting the charity ‘500 Miles’ with a cheque for £2,600 raised through the Stornoway ‘Big Dinner’ event.

500 Miles is a charity established in 2008 by Olivia Giles which helps people with mobility in Malawi and Zambia to live independent lives by providing artificial limbs and braces for people with disabilities of the limbs and spine.

The Big Dinner event took place on March 7th and was one of hundreds which took place on the same night across the country.

The Rotary Club of Stornoway’s Big Dinner event raised £1,300 – and a further £1,300 was raised by The Nicolson Institute Interact Club through raffles and musical entertainment at Stornoway’s Tesco store.

Thanks go to MG ALBA and Tech Mobile who assisted with live link-ups during the Big Dinner event, to MC Derek ‘Pluto’ Murray, musicians Stephen Drummond and Mairi MacLennan who performed on the evening, photographer Leila Angus, and Eleven Restaurant and Bar for making the event such an amazing success.
