The delights of the horticultural paradise '˜Leathad Ard' in Carloway this year has raised more than £2,041 for charity.

Carloway residents Stuart and Rowena Oakley open ‘Leathad Ard’ – Gaelic for ‘Steep Hill’ - each year with donations this year from visitors raising £2,041.95 which the couple have sent to Scotland’s Gardens and their designated charity, the Red Cross. Stuart said: “We were open from mid-May until the end of August and have had a fairly busy season despite the poor weather in August.

“We would like to thank all our visitors who gave so generously.”
