LEVERBURGH

Charity Dinner - Leverburgh Care Home recently held a very successful Charity Dinner held in Leverburgh Hall with in excess of 89 people enjoying a truly scrumptious meal.

After dinner an inspiring and humbling talk was given by Charlie Nicolson on the work of Blythswood, who this year celebrate their 50th Anniversary so were presented with a cake made by the kitchen staff of the Home.

A collection was taken on the night for Blythswood and £550 was given to Charlie to be used where most needed.

The home would like to thank everyone for their support and the money raised on the night for the home through ticket sales will be put to the benefit of the residents comfort.

DINGWALL

Gaelic Service - The next Gaelic Service in the Dingwall Community Centre on Tulloch Street will be on Sunday the 3rd of April.

On this occasion the Rev Aonghas Iain Macdonald [Rtd] will conduct the worship.

Before his retirement Mr Macdonald was minister in the East Church in Inverness for over twenty six years.

The service to which all are welcome begins at 3:00pm as usual.

Carloway

Open Garden - The lovely garden at Leathad Ard, Upper Carloway is currently open until August 31st as part of Scotland’s Gardens open for charity scheme. Proceeds go to the Red Cross and SG Beneficiaries.

The Garden is open between 10am and 6pm (not open on Sundays or on August 3RD).

There is a plant stall to browse the plants on display, and the admission fee is recommended at £4 per head (children are free).

STORNOWAY

Stornoway Big Band - The band will be presenting a Film Music Night at the Cabarfeidh Hotel Ballroom on Saturday, June 11th from 8pm.

Tickets priced £10/£8 are available from the Cabarfeidh Hotel.

Historical talk - A talk ‘Extreme weather on the edge of the world: school log books and Hebridean life’ by Simon Naylor, Neil Macdonald and James Bowen will take place at the Lews Castle Museum and Archive in Stornoway on June 14th from 7.30pm.

HARRIS

Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Estate are holding an Open Day, Prize Draw and Auction on Saturday, June 18th.

Guided tours of the castle will be available (pre-booking is necessary as numbers are limited, to book call 01859 503 200 before June 15th).

First prize in the raffle is a one night stay at the castle for two people which includes dinner, bed and breakfast (during short break week - dates to be advised).

The auction prizes include a one week stay at New Jersey apartment; dinner, bed and breakfast at Scarista House, a long weekend at Morsgail Estate, and a water sports voucher for Scaladale Centre.

There will be various activities during the day and demonstrations from the Hebrides Mountain Rescue Team.

All proceeds to Hebrides Mountain Rescue.

Carol Maclean was greeted by a heart warming surprise at the end of her fundraising half marathon run - her best friend Mhairi Maciver.

Mhairi is suffering from locked in syndrome, which has left her completley paralysed but with Carol raising funds for Mhairi’s future by running the half marathon, Mhairi was brought to the finish line by her family on a stunning day in Stornoway.
