Carpet World celebrate 30 years

Now after three decades of serving the island community, the Stornoway-based business have launched a new initiative to bring their wide range of products to the homes of the customers who may be unable to visit their showrooms and stores.

Carpet World have launched a brand new mobile carpet library – a full stocked branded van packed with carpets, laminates, vinyl’s, linoleums, rug samples – which can visit customers in the comfort of their own homes.

This new move comes hot on the heels of the redevelopment of part of their Keith Street premises which has been rebranded as ‘World of Rugs’ and now displays a massive range of rugs and solid flooring.

Business growth

Dolan Morrison of Carpet World has seen the business grow from its first incarnation of three hard working men to the current multi-flooring and furniture business.

The business now includes 19 staff members, eight vans in constant use and three shops and a warehouse.

“It has been a huge growth,” said Dolan, “ but we have always worked hard to bring value for money and as wide a range as we can to our customers.

“We are up against the internet a lot now so we have to be competitive with our prices and we are very much so and many of our items are exclusive to us from the wholesalers.”

Carpet World are also keen investors in local sport with a number of sponsorship deals over their three decades in business.

A number of football teams are among the large number of community sports and teams to have reaped the benefits of Carpet World’s investment in the community.

“We are very proud to have sponsored so many things locally,” he continued.

“It is important to us to put something back into the community and we enjoy being able to do that.

“In addition to sports teams and sports facilities we have been keen supporters of Bethesda so we are very localised and we help where we can.”

He added: “The past 30-years have been fantastic and we’d like to thank all our customers over the years for their custom and help and God willing, we’ll be here another 30 too.”
