The local firm is based at Glen House in Lews Castle grounds and owner Alistair Glover set up the Crowdfunding site to help aid in the restoration of this significant town building.

He said he has been overwhelmed by the public response to the appeal.

More than 180 people have make pledges – including one anonymous pledge of £1,000.

Alistair said: “I honestly don’t know quite what to say! I’m utterly gobsmacked and there really are not enough thank-yous in the world.

“Everyone who has pledged, from £2 to the £1,000, is helping to make the dream of The Hub come true and bringing Glen House back to life.”

A ‘stretch target’ has now been added to the page – set at £12,500 – which would allow final refurbishment works to take place, most importantly enabling the new car parking area to be laid with a permanent tarmac surface,

“I can’t close the Crowdfunding page early – I’d set it for seven weeks in the beginning as I wasn’t too sure how it would go,” said Alistair.

“But I can set a stretch-target and that would take us so much closer to finalising the car park.

“At present the car park is useable, but it only has a temporary surface on and without further funding, a tarmac finish really is out of the reach for BeSpoke at the moment. And running into Christmas I thought would give pledgers the chance to use their rewards as Christmas presents.”
