Pupils and staff at The Nicolson Institute are on holiday on Monday (2 May).

SQA exams start on Wednesday, 4 May and arrangements for study leave can be found on the school website homepage (www.nicolsoninstitute.org) in a letter from the Rector entitled ‘End of term, 1st April 2016’. SQA exams finish on Friday, 3 June.

BBC DONATES MICRO:BIT TO ALL S1 PUPILS

The BBC, in collaboration with other partners, has donated a micro:bit to every S1 pupil in Scotland, including those at The Nicolson Institute. The aspiration is that pupils will become more digitally creative, and develop their core skills in science, technology, engineering and maths. It is an ambitious initiative but one that the school is ready and willing to tackle.

CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS

The school’s cross country runners had yet another successful weekend at the Western Isles Cross Country Championships in Hosta, North Uist on Saturday, winning medals galore in the final XC race of the season!

BANKING INFORMATION

Two members of staff from the Bank of Scotland recently visited the ‘Basic Skills for Work’ course to talk about managing money and budgeting. They delivered a presentation about ‘Money Matters’ and pupils did a pair work exercise to consolidate.
