Trust Housing Association Ltd 's two developments at Matheson Road and Lewis Street in Stornoway are celebrating being awarded a grade 6 of excellent by the Care Inspectorate.

A grade 6 is the top grade that can be given by the Care Inspectorate - who regulate and inspect care services across Scotland to make sure they meet the right standards.

Inspectors met with tenants in both developments during one of their regular social activities, as well as speaking to individuals, staff, and groups.

Trust Housing Association Ltd was registered with the Care Inspectorate in April 2011 to provide a Housing Support Service to older people living in sheltered housing developments.

The Branch 6 service has two develoopments in Stornoway. Each development is managed by a co-ordinator who reports directly to the manager of the registered service.

The operational hours of each development varies according to the needs of tenants and all tenants have access to an emergency alarm call centre.

As part of the recent review of the service Tenants told the inspector: “I never thought I would be happy again, it’s heaven on earth,”

“The staff are caring and supportive, they are there when you need them and they listen to your problems.”

“I have had help with a lot of things including going on holiday. I would never have been able to do that if it weren’t for the staff and “feeling safe is important to me and I get that here. I have no worries.”

Carol Ferguson, coordinator at Matheson Road said: “We’re thrilled to be awarded ‘excellent’ for our quality of care and support.
