Fans boost Macmillan funds

An island charity has received a funding boost thanks to the generosity of music fans at this year's record-breaking Hebridean Celtic Festival.

During the four-day event festival goers donated £1,794 in cash and tokens to help the Lewis committee of Macmillan Cancer Support, HebCelt’s nominated charity.

It means that over the last five years more than £6,000 has been collected at the festival to help the important work of the local committee.

HebCelt director Caroline Maclennan, said: “I am delighted that the Macmillan funds have been boosted by the generosity of festival goers. We are proud to be associated with the charity and the important work it does in our community.”

In 2014 Macmillan also benefited from proceeds of a song written by Lewis singer Willie Campbell especially for HebCelt.
