He is a member of Martin’s Memorial Church and is married with three children and lives in Lochs.

He said of the new post: “I have a great fondness for the fishing industry and feel quite an affinity with those that I meet around the ports, harbours and creeks within the islands. And now that the post is full time I am very eager to get back into the southern reaches too.”

Fishermen’s Mission CEO Commodore David Dickens CBE added: “We are really pleased to welcome Roddy Maciver, our new full time Superintendent in the Western Isles to the Fishermen’s Mission family.

“With a wealth of contacts and experience from his time with Marine Scotland, Roddy is well placed to expand our work in support of fishermen and their families beyond our traditional emergency response.
