Honorary accolade for Captain

Captain William George MacDonald, originally from Marvig Isle Of Lewis, was recently presented with an honorary membership of the IMMS (International Institute of Marine Surveyors). Captain William George MacDonald was born in Marvig, South Lochs and now lives in Houston Texas.

He went to sea at 15 where he progressed through the ranks from Deck Boy to Captain on some of the world’s biggest Supertankers.

He formed his own marine company in 1985 and amongst his many contributions to international shipping and oil related services has been his leadership in the formation of the International Institute of Marine Surveyors.

It was Captain MacDonald who first started the institute in 1991 and he was voted in as the first President.

Now 25 years later he was present at the London anniversary celebration where he performed the cake cutting duties of the special 25th Anniversary cake (pictured).
