Island tour dates for piper Fred Morrison

Renowned Scottish piper, Fred Morrison, will soon set off on a solo Scottish tour.

Fred will spend 18 nights travelling and performing in concert halls, arts centres and village halls, the length and breadth of the country, taking him from the Islands to as far south as Dumfries.

Fred is justly famed for his passionately expressive style, rooted in the Gaelic traditions of his father’s native South Uist, and enriched by influences from far and wide, which has seen him dubbed “the Jimi Hendrix of the pipes”.

He is equally accomplished on the great Highland bagpipes, Scottish smallpipes, whistles and the Irish uilleann pipes, and has featured in the seminal Scottish bands Clan Alba and Capercaillie, whilst also being a record-breaking champion on the competitive piping circuit.

This Summer, Fred secured the coveted McCrimmon Trophy at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient for a record breaking eighth time.

He returned from the Festival, having won the Pibroch trophy, to launch his new uilleann pipes, at Piping Live in Glasgow. This was followed by a trip to the States, where he gave performances and workshops in Seattle and Lake Tahoe.

Fred will be performing at Lionacleit Theatre, Benbecula on November 24th (tickets on the door)

And at An Lanntair arts centre in Stornoway on November 25th (tickets on the door or visit: website
