Liz Lochhead - Somethings Old, Somethings New

Scotland's most recent Makar, Liz Lochhead, will be the guest of Ullapool Entertainments on Saturday 19th March when she brings her show Somethings Old, Somethings New to The Venue at The Ceilidh Place.

From the bittersweet to the rude and raunchy she weaves a spellbinding and beguiling show, mixing poems, monologues and music.

Accompanied by the soulful sax of Steve Kettley she presents an intoxicating mix of some of her best work over the past 45 years.

Liz Lochhead was named winner of the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry 2015 after the Queen approved a unanimous decision to honour her body of work spanning over forty years.

The Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy described Liz Lochhead as “an inspirational force in British Poetry…funny, feisty, full of feeling, a fantastic performer.”

The show has received excellent reviews. The Sunday Times said “brilliant, raucous and scabrously funny” and The Scotsman thought it was “funny, frank and frisky”.

The show starts at 8pm and tickets (£7) are being sold on Ullapool Entertainments’ behalf by The Ceilidh Place – phone 01854 612103.
