Mental Health Recovery Events

Two open events are being held, one in Stornoway and one in Balivanich, to provide people with a clear understanding of what mental health recovery means and to help shape what the recovery model will look like for mental health services across the Western Isles.

The events are aimed at service users, service providers, families and caregivers of people with mental health problems, and the wider public.

The aim of the events is to explain what recovery in mental health means, and how to develop a recovery approach in the Western Isles.

There will be speakers from the Scottish Recovery Network and Penumbra to help in this work.

Workshops will be held in the afternoon to kickstart a new approach to mental health in the islands.

As you may know, NHS Western Isles has been working with its partners to look at the services provided for people with mental health problems.

The partners include Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Penumbra, Alzheimer’s Scotland, Western Isles Association for Mental Health, Tagsa Uibhist and Cobhair Barraigh.

The information from these will be gathered together and used to inform the next steps on developing the recovery journey for the Western Isles.

The events are:
